DIGITAL TREE OF ARMENIAN ROYAL AND NOBLE DYNASTIES

The history of Armenian civilization is rich and multi-layered. However, frequent periods of lost statehood and foreign invasions have often created a false perception of historical fragmentation in the public consciousness.

This project offers an innovative technological solution to this challenge. By visualizing and digitizing genealogical connections, the platform vividly demonstrates the code of continuity inherent in Armenian civilization. It illustrates that even during eras without a unified centralized kingdom, Armenian noble (nakharar) houses and the clergy ensured the uninterrupted preservation of the country’s internal autonomy, culture, and identity.

Project Objective
To design and develop a modern, interactive interface that enables users to comprehensively explore the hierarchy, succession, and historical networks of Armenian ruling dynasties and spiritual leaders from antiquity to the 14th century.

Key Features of the Platform
The concise version of the platform is optimized for quick access, making it ideal for schools, museums, and mobile devices:

• Global Chronological Timeline: Seamless navigation through key historical milestones—from the legendary Haykazunis to the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. Users can jump between historical eras with a single click.

• Linear Genealogical Charts: A streamlined visualization of key royal dynasties (the Orontids, Artaxiads, Arsacids, Bagratunis, Rubenids, and Hethumids).

• Interactive Express Profiles: Clicking on a ruler’s name opens a concise sidebar featuring:

• Name, title, and years of reign.

• A brief summary of their primary historical contribution (3–4 sentences).

• Artistic illustrations, portraits, or images of dynastic symbols.

• Geographic Integration: Basic visualization of territories. Selecting a ruler or dynasty dynamically highlights their historic areas of presence—including gavars (provinces), fortresses, and capitals—on a mini-map.

• Promoting Heritage: Enables citizens of Armenia, representatives of the Diaspora (Spyurk), and the international community to explore the deep roots of Armenian history in an engaging and accessible format.
